This season is called Advent. Traditionally it was a time to fast and reflect; today many of us enjoy opening a countdown calendar and a daily chocolate treat. Each week, the gifts of love, joy, peace, and hope were remembered by lighting a candle — a way of preparing our hearts for the arrival of Jesus, the Light of the World.
Known as the Way, the Truth, and the Life, this Light would show the world true love, joy, peace, and hope.
JOY
Unstoppable joy that rises within us, giving strength to face life’s challenges.
LOVE
Lavish love that welcomes without condition, exposes what keeps us apart, and builds bridges strong enough to unite.
HOPE
Inspiration to endure, encouragement to look up, and motivation to press on toward a better day.
PEACE
Peace that calms the heart, quiets the inner noise, and frees us from comparison and competition.
